We enjoyed an absolutely idyllic stay here. The location, the villas, the food and the hospitality are unsurpassed. Anu and the whole family really look after the guests and provide... read more a really relaxing experience in an idyllic setting. The island is accessed by boat and you are secluded on island with just the odd rice boat puttering by the front of your villa. The villas are very large and comfortable. The sunset cruise is a fabulous experience and the views and the birds are a real highlight. Meals are taken at communal tables with the other guests which provides a sociable setting for enjoying the excellent food. We were among the last group of guests staying here before the Coronavirus lock down. We had been due to move onto our last hotel when we received a message saying that was no longer possible and we had to return home. Anu really helped us (& the other guests) sort out our connections home and we stayed a further day until setting off for home. Having to stay on at Phillip Kutty's farm was no hardship and probably the best place you could imagine. It was sad to leave and to see that they were having to also close down. Hopefully they will be up and running again in the not too distant future. If you want to experience an absolutely idyllic setting with incredible hospitality then do stay here; you really... We enjoyed our stay at Philipkutty's Farm in December. Our cottage was spacious and comfortable with a very nice bathroom with two sinks. There was a pleasant sitting area.... read more We could sit outside and watch the houseboats go by. Food was very good with tasty vegetarian selections. One of the guests had special dietary restrictions and servings were adapted for her.
One morning we went on a boat with a birdwatching guide and were very pleased with the many birds we saw.
We were ferried from the Island to take a walk through the village to the charming local church which had been established in the 15th century.
On our tour of the farm we saw the vechur cow, a very small cow, that produces lots of milk for the food it requires.
We enjoyed talking with Anu and her mother-in law, who is responsible for the kitchen, and would enthusiastically recommend Philipkutty's Farm for a stay in the Kerala Backwaters.
